Settings

A complete reference to every setting on Kioku’s Settings page, grouped by its on-screen section.

Settings are buffered as you edit them and persist only when you select Save settings (or Save in the sticky Unsaved changes banner). Navigating away with unsaved changes prompts you to Discard first. Color scheme and Highlight colors apply to the screen immediately but still require Save to persist.

Note

This page documents savable settings only. The Settings page also hosts actions that are not stored settings — running FSRS optimization, importing Anki decks, exporting, managing Collections, configuring import domains, running media diagnostics, and checking for updates. Those are described at the end under Actions on the Settings page.

Display

Color scheme	Selects the active theme palette. Choosing a scheme also sets the light/dark mode to that scheme’s mode. Note

There is no standalone dark/light toggle. The light or dark mode is derived from the Color scheme you select. A highlight color left at its default uses the theme’s built-in highlight color rather than a fixed hue.

Keyboard shortcuts

This section has no stored rows on the page. Select Show shortcuts (or press H) to open the shortcut help, which is also the rebinding editor: click a shortcut chip and press a new combination to rebind it. Custom bindings are saved by that editor, independently of Save settings.

Item scheduler

These settings control how Items (flashcards) are scheduled. See Spaced repetition for the model behind them and the Tune FSRS guide for how to adjust them.

Note

Desired retention is stored separately from the other settings. Reset to defaults restores it to 0.90.

Topic scheduler

Controls scheduling for Topics and Extracts. It does not affect Item Cards.

Controls how a review session mixes and limits content. See The review queue for how these interact.

Note

Topic ratio is ignored by the Fixed rhythm and Priority order strategies — it applies only to Topic share.

Auto-postpone

Spreads low-priority overdue Topics across upcoming days instead of piling them into today’s pool.

Action	What it does
Save settings	Persists the buffered changes from every section above, including Desired retention.
Reset to defaults	After confirmation, restores every setting on this page to its default and Desired retention to 0.90. This cannot be undone.

Actions on the Settings page

The sections below are management and maintenance panels, not stored settings with defaults. They are listed here for completeness; follow the linked guides for how to use them.

Item scheduler → Run optimization	Tunes a Collection-specific FSRS weight set to your review history and activates it only if it predicts your recall better than your current parameters.
